Job description

Sonas Technical are currently seeking a CNC Programmer for our client, a Precision Engineering company who specialise in the Medical Device, Aerospace and Electronic industries. The successful person will receive a strong remuneration package with a host of benefits and be based in our clients site in Louth. The hours for this role are Day Shift, Monday to Friday with an early finish on Fridays.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Turning machines which will be under your remit: Tornos, Citizen, Nakamura, Miyano
  • Designing and writing CNC programs directly from customer drawings
  • Owning the programming role – selecting cutting tools, speeds & feeds, and advising on inspection methods
  • Achieving cycle times in line with industry standards and continually improving
  • Aiming for the highest levels of quality for products manufactured under your remit
  • Introducing and developing new components, achieving first article approval with customer
  • Planning all machine and tooling preventive maintenance routines
  • Maintain high levels of health and safety standards for the area
  • Initiate and promote continuous improvement on quality, cycle times and overall yield
  • Coach team members and assist in skills development
  • Any other duties as reasonably required


Qualifications & Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years programming and setting machines (post training / apprenticeship) similar to those mentioned above
  • Experience in programming directly from drawings and solid models
  • Ability to program components offline using Gibbs Cam design software or similar
  • Range of experience in programming & machining on various materials
  • Experience in metal cutting and tooling / cutter concepts
  • Machining to tight tolerances (10 microns)
  • Familiarity of working in a fast paced, high volume setting and proven ability to meet production targets
