We are working with a semi-state body on their search for an Assistant Project Manager to join their team in Dublin. The Assistant PM will support the Programme Manager in delivering projects, collaborating with Resident Engineering Team, Design Team, and Contractors, ensuring efficient resource utilization.


  • Assist in developing infrastructure under the Programme Manager.
  • Oversee feasibility work, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover of projects.
  • Ensure projects adhere to project management and control procedures.
  • Fulfill Safety Responsibility Statement.
  • Comply with safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct incident investigations as required.
  • Review and manage risks relevant to the role.
  • Comply with HR policies.
  • Manage internal and external project resources.
  • Manage project stakeholders and provide support to staff.
  • Plan, monitor, and report on financial aspects of assigned works.
  • Ensure proper authorization of project expenditure.
  • Prepare and manage budgets in line with procurement policies.
  • Support the Programme Manager in preparing quarterly interim and annual stewardship reports, highlighting performance against objectives and expenditure against budget.
  • Monitor and report on project implementation within the Department, facilitating smooth project execution and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Assist in implementing company and department standards, providing professional project management support, and deputizing for the Project Manager when necessary.


  • Degree in Building, Engineering, Construction, or Project Management (NFQ Level 8) or relevant working experience (minimum 5 years).
  • Membership in Engineers Ireland or equivalent professional body.
  • Minimum 5 years of significant project management experience in civil engineering in Railways or relevant engineering environments.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • General management and project management experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and project management tools like MS Project.


  • Knowledge of Railway Systems and Commercial and Building Construction.
  • Understanding of contract management and Public Works Contract.
  • Experience in onsite supervision of contractors.
  • Familiarity with railway infrastructure and Construction Regulations.
  • Experience with the Commission for Rail Regulation Authorisation for Placing in Service (APIS) process.
