CAD Technician

Our client, is is seeking a proficient CAD Technician to collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and other project team members to translate design concepts into precise, comprehensive CAD drawings. This role will be based in County Wexford and requires a strong understanding of steel construction principles and proficiency in CAD software.

1. CAD Drafting: Create accurate and detailed CAD drawings, blueprints, and schematics for steel structures using computer-aided design software.
2. Design Collaboration: Work closely with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to interpret design concepts and develop construction drawings that meet project specifications and codes.
3. Structural Detailing: Develop steel detailing drawings, including plans, sections, elevations, and connections, with a focus on structural integrity and safety.
4. Material and Component Selection: Assist in selecting appropriate steel materials and components for construction, considering factors such as strength, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
5. Quality Control: Review and verify drawings for accuracy and adherence to industry standards and project requirements.
6. Documentation: Maintain organized and up-to-date project documentation, including revisions, change orders, and as-built drawings.
7. Compliance: Ensure that all drawings comply with local building codes, industry standards, and safety regulations.
8. Coordination: Collaborate with project teams to coordinate steel construction requirements with other trades, such as electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
9. 3D Modeling: Utilize 3D modeling software to create visual representations of steel structures, aiding in design visualization and project communication.
10. Problem Solving: Address and resolve design and construction challenges, proposing solutions to improve efficiency and functionality.
11. Training and Development: Stay current with advancements in CAD software and steel construction techniques, and provide guidance to junior CAD technicians as needed.

Qualifications:

• 3rd level qualification in a related field (e.g., Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or CAD Technology).
• Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD and Tekla Structures, with the ability to create 2D and 3D drawings.
• Strong knowledge of steel construction principles, materials, and welding processes.
• Familiarity with building codes and regulations relevant to steel structures.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration abilities to work within a team environment.
• Previous experience in CAD drafting or steel construction is preferred.
• Certification in CAD technology or relevant software is a plus.
