Our client are currently looking to hire a fire prevention engineer to join their team in the south east. This role is open to a variety of locations across the south east.

This is an initial 1-year Contract Role & with follow on work highly likely.

Requirements

  • Regularly inspecting buildings, means of escape, and firefighting equipment to ensure proper location, marking, good repair, and functionality.
  • Conducting routine inspections of places, premises, and equipment posing a fire risk and reporting any violations of the fire prevention code.
  • Instructing staff in each premises on fire hazard avoidance, summoning the fire brigade, operating fire alarm and equipment, and executing means of escape.
  • Organizing and overseeing regular fire drills in each institution to ensure proper execution.
  • Monitoring water supply in all institution divisions for firefighting purposes and reporting deficiencies.
  • Providing advice on the interpretation of Health Technical Memorandums, Fire Protection Standards, and Building Regulations, ensuring compliance.
  • Monitoring means of escape for safety, adequacy, and continuous operability.
  • Maintaining accurate records of inspections, fires, evacuation drills, firefighting equipment, and related matters as Fire Prevention Officer.
  • Implementing fire prevention work programs under the direction of line manager.
  • Reporting to managers and committees on areas of fire and infrastructural risk requiring action.
  • Receiving accident reports related to their expertise, investigating if necessary, and providing accident investigation reports.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate extensive experience in the construction and maintenance of buildings or in the installation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and heating services for buildings.
  • Showcase technical expertise relevant to the role, including experience in fire safety risk assessment, preparing and submitting fire safety certificate applications, and conducting fire safety training.
  • Possess a level 7 qualification in engineering, fire engineering, architecture, health and safety, or Building Services/Building Survey, or an equivalent qualification along with two years of experience in a comparable Fire and Safety role
