We are recruiting a skilled Group Planner with expertise in tunnelling planning to join our clients team in Orsett, London.

Our Client is a leading construction company specialising in tunnelling and underground infrastructure projects across London and regionally throughout the UK. They are recruiting heavily and have a full pipeline of work for the next 5 years.

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute effective planning strategies for tunneling projects, ensuring they align with project goals, timelines, and budget limitations.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to collect project requirements, specifications, and constraints, in order to develop accurate and feasible project schedules.
  • Perform comprehensive analysis of project requirements, including site conditions, logistics, and resource availability, to identify potential risks, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Utilize cutting-edge software tools to generate detailed project schedules, incorporating critical path analysis, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Monitor and oversee project progress, providing regular updates to project teams and stakeholders, and proactively address any deviations from the original plan.
  • Work closely with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure timely availability of necessary resources, materials, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with the estimation team to produce accurate time and cost estimates for tunneling projects and contribute to tendering processes.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance planning processes, tools, and techniques to improve efficiency, accuracy, and productivity.
  • Support and guide junior planners and project teams, fostering a culture of effective planning and scheduling throughout the organization.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in tunneling planning and scheduling, and implement relevant improvements to enhance project outcomes.

Requirements

  • Degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated track record in planning and scheduling tunneling projects, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Proficient in utilizing industry-standard planning software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project to create comprehensive project schedules.
  • Deep understanding of tunneling techniques, methodologies, and related construction processes.
  • Possess strong analytical skills to evaluate complex project requirements and develop practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work within tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with UK construction regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental considerations.
  • Flexibility to occasionally travel to project sites within the UK.
