Our client is seeking a Junior Site Engineer to join their team to work across large railway projects in Ireland.

This is a night shift role – the hours are 10pm – 6am.

The successful engineer will work across a variety of projects including track renewals & bridge renewals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to contractors on site to ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of construction activities to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and propose solutions to maintain project schedule and quality.
  • Implement quality control procedures to monitor workmanship, materials, and equipment on site, and take corrective actions as necessary to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders, including engineers, architects, contractors, and suppliers, to coordinate activities and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Promote a culture of safety on site by adhering to health and safety regulations, conducting risk assessments, and participating in safety meetings and training sessions.
  • Prepare regular progress reports and updates for the Site Manager and project team, highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Previous experience in construction or engineering, preferably in the railway or infrastructure sector, is desirable but not essential. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Proficiency in engineering software and tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar CAD programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and establish positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify issues, evaluate alternatives, and propose practical solutions to overcome challenges on site.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing priorities, work environments, and project requirements as needed.
  • A valid driver’s license is required as the role may involve travel to various project sites across Ireland
