Our client, a global consulting and engineering group, are seeking an experienced Commercial Director to join their team to work across various railway projects.

Responsibilities

  • Administering the NEC4 Option C D&B Target Cost contract that has been awarded.
  • Establishing and defining commercial and cost standards and procedures for the project.
  • Developing a Commercial and Cost Team, including clearly defining roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities from the mobilization to delivery and commissioning stages.
  • Capturing, monitoring, forecasting, and reporting the financial status of the program to ensure it remains within the funding envelope and complies with all governance requirements.
  • Taking the lead on supplier relationship activities, including all aspects of contract management.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant standards, legislation, and governance arrangements.
  • Providing commercial expertise and advice to both the Program and project teams.
  •  Ensuring contractual compliance on behalf of the Client.
  • Utilizing and interpreting Earned Value for project evaluation.
  • Managing invoicing and collection activities and interfacing with the central finance team.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial Year End accounting practices.
  • Analyzing change requests that may have a contractual or cost impact.
  • Providing guidance, and when necessary, leadership on the preparation, presentation, and negotiation of Compensation Events.
  • Assisting with tendering processes and supporting other projects as needed.
  • Interface with and support other commercial managers
  • Foster key relationships, internally and externally
  • Provide guidance on terms and conditions for the benefit of the broader project team
  • Form  strong  relationships with  the  Project  Team, Project  Engineers  and Managers,  Client,
  • Stakeholders and Contractors in order to draw out and investigate key issues
  • Provide support  to  senior  management  and  participation  in  commercial  negotiations  with customers, Procurement, Sub-contractors and other relevant parties

Requirements

  • Minimum  15  years  as  a  commercial  manager,  preferably  within  a  rail/rail  infrastructure environment
  • Experienced in using NEC 3 or 4 contracts, preferably Option C – target cost contracts at post- contract stage
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or related commercial management qualification;
  • Analytical with good negotiating skills and excellent commercial awareness and a robust and challenging mindset;
  • Understanding of the principles and application of construction law;
  • Adept at presenting to a varied audience at all levels of a business
  • Previous experience of a large programme of works
  • Strong dispute management skills and experience in handling claims and settlements
  • Superb attention to detail
  • A sound background in contract interpretation, with experience in Contract Law beneficial
  • An understanding of the commercial impact of meeting/failing performance criteria
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to represent Egis at a senior level
  • A confident and strong communicator
  • Excellent IT Skills – Word/Excel/PowerPoint
