We’re assisting an award-winning Main Contractor in their search for a Senior EHS Advisor in Meath. The successful candidate will be based on-site in Meath, with further site visits required in the Greater Dublin area.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive health and safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with Irish regulations and industry standards.
  • Provide expert guidance and leadership on health and safety matters to project teams, subcontractors, and site personnel.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, unsafe practices, and areas for improvement, ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action planning to prevent recurrence and improve safety performance.
  • Collaborate with project managers to integrate health and safety requirements into project planning, execution, and scheduling.
  • Deliver high-quality health and safety training programs for employees at all levels, promoting a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement.
  • Keep abreast of changes in legislation, industry best practices, and emerging trends in health and safety, and implement necessary updates to policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and present health and safety reports to senior management, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders, highlighting key metrics, trends, and initiatives.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for health and safety inquiries, providing timely and effective guidance and support to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Mentor and coach junior health and safety personnel, fostering their professional development and growth within the organization.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH Managing Safely) is essential.
  • Significant experience in a senior health and safety role within the construction industry, preferably with main contractors in Ireland.
  • Thorough understanding of Irish health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Proven leadership and decision-making skills, with the ability to influence and engage others in health and safety initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Commitment to promoting a positive safety culture and driving continuous improvement in health and safety performance.
