We’re in search of a dedicated and experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our client’s Building and Infrastructure division in their Limerick office. In this position, you’ll engage in a diverse range of projects within the built environment, encompassing residential, commercial, educational, and healthcare buildings, as well as infrastructure like water retention and wind farms.

Senior Structural Engineer – Key Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Level 8 degree in Civil Engineering, preferably with a Structural Engineering focus.
  • Chartered Engineer certification.
  • Between 8 and 12 years of relevant professional experience.

Senior Structural Engineer – Responsibilities:

As a Project Engineer, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring project success. Your duties will involve:

  1. Aiding in the development of tender documents and assessing tenders.
  2. Managing site investigation activities during the tendering process.
  3. Application of Eurocodes for various materials such as steel, timber, concrete, and masonry. This includes overseeing design tasks delegated to design engineers and junior engineers.
  4. Handling intricate design aspects like deep foundations, transfer structures, torsional beams, and flat slabs.
  5. Compiling calculation packages for both manual and computer-based designs, and reviewing calculations conducted by design engineers and junior team members.
  6. Preparing specification documents.
  7. Overseeing the creation of technical reports and collaborating with other disciplines and stakeholders.
  8. Supervising drawing development, reviewing Navisworks and Revit models, and coordinating with other disciplines.
  9. Maintaining effective communication within the design team.
  10. Following our quality management procedures, including timesheet management and providing guidance to junior team members on QMS procedures.
  11. Complying with our Safety Manual.
  12. Preparing designer assessment of risk forms and liaising with the PSDP.
  13. Conducting site inspections, preparing BCAR reports, and assisting with ancillary certificate preparations.

Senior Structural Engineer – Key Skills:

We are looking for candidates who possess the following key skills:

  • A profound understanding of fundamental mechanics and a strong grasp of intricate structural design principles. Able to assist both junior and design engineers in their comprehension of mechanics.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the capability to manage delegated tasks to ensure timely completion and the monitoring of tasks assigned to junior team members.
  • Proficiency in tracking deadlines and project milestones.
  • Proficiency in project financial management, covering aspects like Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), invoicing, and periodic reviews. Understanding of fee proposals and project scopes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Strong competence in using finite element software, including Autodesk Robot, Tekla Structural Designer, CADS A3D, and other standalone design packages such as CADS Masonry Panel Designer and Tedds Designs.
