Structural Project Engineer – Minimum Requirements:

To be considered for the role of Structural Project Engineer, candidates must meet the following prerequisites:

  • Possession of a Level 8 degree in Civil Engineering, with a preference for specialization in Structural Engineering.
  • Certification as a Chartered Engineer.
  • A professional background comprising 8 to 12 years of experience.

Structural Project Engineer – Core Responsibilities:

In the capacity of a Structural Project Engineer, your contributions are pivotal to the success of our projects. Your core duties encompass:

  1. Assisting in the creation of tender documents and the evaluation of tender submissions.
  2. Oversight of site investigations during the tendering phase.
  3. Application of Eurocodes to diverse materials, including steel, timber, concrete, and masonry, while supervising design tasks delegated to both design engineers and junior team members.
  4. Addressing complex design facets such as deep foundations, transfer structures, torsional beams, and flat slabs.
  5. Compilation of comprehensive calculation packages for both manual and computer-aided designs, alongside reviewing calculations conducted by design engineers and junior colleagues.
  6. Drafting specification documents.
  7. Supervising the preparation of technical reports and collaborating with professionals from various disciplines and stakeholders.
  8. Management of drawing development, review of Navisworks and Revit models, and coordination across diverse disciplines.
  9. Maintaining effective communication within the design team.
  10. Adherence to our quality management protocols, including overseeing timesheets and guiding junior team members in Quality Management System (QMS) procedures.
  11. Compliance with our Safety Manual.
  12. Preparation of risk assessments for designers and collaboration with the Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP).
  13. Conducting site inspections, generating Building Control Amendment Regulations (BCAR) reports, and assisting in the creation of supplementary certificates.

Structural Project Engineer – Key Skills:

We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate the following critical skills:

  • Profound knowledge of fundamental mechanics and a strong command of intricate structural design principles. Capable of guiding both junior team members and design engineers in comprehending these principles.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational prowess, including the ability to efficiently oversee delegated tasks and monitor the progress of junior team members.
  • Competence in tracking project deadlines and milestones.
  • Proficiency in project financial management, covering aspects like Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), invoicing, and periodic reviews. Understanding of fee proposals and project scopes.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Competency in utilizing finite element software, including but not limited to Autodesk Robot, Tekla Structural Designer, CADS A3D, and specialized design packages such as CADS Masonry Panel Designer and Tedds Designs.
