We are recruiting a Structural Project Engineer, on behalf of our client a large Multidisciplinary Engineering Consultancy headquartered in Galway. The successful candidate will be working on a variety of projects across the built environment, from residential, commercial, educational, and healthcare buildings to water retaining and wind farm infrastructure.

Degree educated (Required) candidates with a range of 5-7 years’ experience and possess a strong understanding of mechanics and structural design principles,

  • Assisting in the creation of tender documents and evaluating tender submissions.
  • Conducting site investigations as part of the tendering process.
  • Utilizing Eurocodes to design structures in steel, timber, concrete, and masonry, including supervising design tasks delegated to engineers.
  • Managing intricate designs, such as deep foundations, transfer structures, torsional beams, and flat slabs.
  • Creating comprehensive calculation packages for both manual and computer-based designs, and reviewing calculations performed by engineers.
  • Preparing specification documents and overseeing the development of technical reports in collaboration with various disciplines.
  • Supervising the generation of drawings, reviewing Navisworks and Revit models, and coordinating with other disciplines.
  • Maintaining effective communication with fellow design team members.
  • Adhering to quality management procedures, including timesheet management, and mentoring junior team members in Quality Management System (QMS) procedures.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety protocols outlined in our Safety Manual. Compiling designer assessment of risk forms and liaising with the Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP).
  • Conducting site inspections, preparing Building Control Amendment Regulations (BCAR) reports, and assisting in the preparation of ancillary certificates.


  • Excellent understanding of the basics of mechanics and a strong grasp of complex structural design principles.
  • Assist with project financial management, including WBS, invoicing and periodic reviews. Understands fee proposals and project scopes.
  • Strong ability to use finite element packages such as Autodesk Robot, Tekla Structural Designer, CADS A3D, and other standalone design packages, including CADS Masonry panel designer and Tedds Designs.
