Buyer / Purchasing Manager

Job Overview

Sonas Technical is currently seeking an experienced Buyer / Purchasing Manager to join a market-leading steel fabricator based in county Tipperary. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow and develop in a company committed to developing talent and rewarding performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintenance of stock levels and stock control system.
• Processing purchase orders to be sent to suppliers.
• Checking and receiving incoming goods.
• Placing forward stock orders with suppliers and organizing import of same.
• Sourcing materials and parts from new suppliers.
• Carrying out cost benefit analysis on new suppliers.
• Recording and following up on incoming goods quality checks.
• Negotiating prices and supply agreements with both existing and new suppliers.
• Updating database of supplier details and products, and ensuring prices are correct.
• Chase up suppliers for deliveries and monitor their performance ratings.
• Assist in the collation of shipping/delivery and export paperwork from suppliers.
• Other support tasks carried out as and when required.

Key Requirement

• Relevant 3rd level qualification in Purchasing/Supply Chain or experience in lieu of.
• 3+ years’ experience in a purchasing/buying role.
• Experience with manufacturing/engineering procurement desirable.
• ERP experience couple with strong commercial acumen.
• Excellent oral & written communication skills with the ability and confidence to deal with a broad range of people.
• Organised individual with a constant focus and attention to detail.
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to meet strict deadline and work under pressure.
