Company Overview:
Our client is seeking an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Cork. This company is a part of a multidisciplinary project engineering team, and they specialize in various sectors, with a particular focus on Life Sciences. The successful Quantity Surveyor (QS) will play a vital role in the pre and post-contract aspects of Quantity Surveying.
Responsibilities:
As an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor, your responsibilities will include:
- Capital Cost Estimates: Preparing capital cost estimates for projects.
- Target Value Design (TVD): Implementing Target Value Design principles to optimize project costs and value.
- Tendering Support: Assisting in tendering procedures and contract arrangements, including the preparation of pricing documents for tender packages.
- Tendering Advice: Providing advice on tendering procedures and drafting instructions to tenderers.
- Tender Evaluation: Developing tender evaluation criteria, drafting PQQ (Pre-Qualification Questionnaire) questionnaires, handling queries during the tender period, and evaluating tender submissions.
- Valuation: Valuing progress on-site for interim certificates and determining amounts due to contractors under price variations.
- Design and Construction Changes: Tracking changes to the design and/or construction work and adjusting budget forecasts accordingly.
- Client Liaison: Liaising with the client and other construction professionals, such as site managers, project managers, and site engineers.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A qualification in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent field.
- 1-3 years of experience in Quantity Surveying.
- Experience in the Pharma/Biopharma sector is a bonus but not essential.
- A strong understanding of building details and construction technology.
- Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel, Cubit, Cost X, and Outlook, are beneficial.
