Our client are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Kilkenny. Our client specialize in high-quality Stainless-steel fabrication and the manufacture of conveyors /
Elevators & industrial equipment for the food & pharma sectors.
This is a full-time, permanent position.

Responsibilities
- Carrying out 3D design activities on customer projects from ‘proof of concept work’ to ‘final design’ review and manufacture.
- Supports the sales department during tender phases to prepare design concepts.
- Production of High-quality fabrication drawings for issuance to the production department, including any BOM’s / lists that maybe required.
- Review and analyze client specifications at the tender stage and project delivery stage.
- Performing Design Reviews with client/production/project managers as required.
- Development / maintain drawing templates and standards for the company.
- Work with other internal departments to ensure project objectives are met.
- Resolve as required any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise on projects.
- Assisting Project Managers as required with regard to design and any other functions deemed relevant by your line manager
Requirements
- Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification.
- 3 or more years relevant experience in the sector in regard of design & producing detailed fabrication drawings for production.
- Experience in machinery design / Platforms & walkways / Conveyors & Elevators / Sheet metal design would be seen as an advantage.
- Good knowledge of EU standards and machinery directives. Knowledge of ISO14112 & ISO 128 would be seen as an advantage.
- Based at the factory in Kilkenny with some travel to client location/sites.
- Strong ability to use various CAD / modeling packages such as Autocad / Solid Works including FEA software etc.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft office products: Excel / Powerpoint etc.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and Self motived enough to carry a project on one’s own.
- Good analysis, judgment, and problem-solving skills along with an ability to input effectively into decision making, within the team
