Design Engineer

Our client is a leading utility contractor, specializing in Electrical and Telecommunications infrastructure maintenance and construction. Their growth is a result of our solid reputation for delivering projects to the highest standards and building strong client relationships.

THey are in search of a Design Engineer to work on newly awarded design contracts related to various transmission and distribution grid connection projects. Occasional travel to and from the project sites will be expected.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing AutoCAD/GIS/Revit design support to our clients Engineering Department, working in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team on the design of transmission and distribution networks.

The candidate should ideally have a minimum of 5 years of previous experience in a role that demands significant AutoCAD/GIS/Revit expertise. While prior design experience in the utilities sector is beneficial, it is not essential as on-the-job training will be provided.

Primary duties for this role encompass the following:

• Offering AutoCAD/GIS/Revit support
• Conducting on-site surveys, preparing survey drawings, architectural & engineering design drawings, and related work associated with grid connections and infrastructure design
• Understanding and adhering to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 requirements while executing company work, with prior experience in associated procedures being advantageous.
• Generating utility mapping and integrating it with GIS systems
• Compiling planning applications and section 5 exemption applications as needed
• Attending off-site meetings if necessary
• Assisting with Tender Submissions, including document compilation
• Processing survey and utility data in multiple formats (AutoCAD, GIS, Revit, Civil 3D), both in 2D and 3D.

Package:

• Salary €50,000 – €60,000

Qualifications and Skills:

• Recognized academic training, such as an HND or Degree course
• Proficiency in software such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Word, Excel & Outlook
• Evidence of consistent successes in the utilities sector
• Recent relevant design experience
• Experience in people and line leadership
• Strong client-facing skills with a client-oriented approach
• Commercially astute
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and planning skills
• Proficiency in AutoCAD & FOW design tools
• Ability to balance competing priorities and meet personal targets within a fluctuating and demanding workload.
