Our client, a leading Utilities contractor is currently seeking a Electrical Engineer to join them in Limerick. The client in questions have operations throughout Ireland, the UK and Europe serving diverse sectors including Data Centres, Renewables, and Transmission and Distribution Utilities. As an Electrical Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in the design and execution of multi-disciplinary Transmission & Distribution projects on both international and domestic fronts. You will be based in Limerick. This is a full-time, permenent position.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Electrical Oversight: Assume the overall responsibility for electrical aspects within assigned projects, ensuring efficient resource allocation and project success.
  • Project Engineering Coordination: Assign and manage work for Project Engineers, ensuring alignment with project milestones and on-time completion.
  • Collaborative Design: Collaborate closely with civil designers to ensure seamless integration of civil aspects with electrical equipment requirements.
  • Single Point of Contact: Act as the primary point of contact (SPOC) between the Utility provider, client owners engineer, and the project team.
  • Document Management: Manage electrical and civil design logs received from the Utility provider and client owners engineer. Oversee the submission of design packs to these entities.
  • Procurement Specifications: Prepare procurement specifications for critical primary plant components, including HV power transformers, HV circuit breakers, HV switchgear, and NERs.
  • Supplier Document Review: Thoroughly review supplier documents and schematics to ensure equipment compliance with technical and functional specifications.
  • Design Approvals: Take charge of approving physical HV layouts, electrical systems, secondary control and protection systems, and single line diagrams.
  • System Studies Approval: Assume responsibility for approving HV system studies, encompassing protection coordination, voltage regulation, load flow, and fault level reports.
  • Meeting Attendance: Attend meetings with Utility providers and client owners engineers as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Educational Background: Possess an Honours Electrical Engineering Degree.
  • Experience: Bring a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role with an HV contractor or utility.
  • Design Software: Have a working knowledge of design software, including but not limited to ETAP, Eplan, and AutoCAD.
  • People Management: Demonstrate strong people management skills, ensuring effective teamwork and resource utilization.
  • Communication: Exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Initiative: Be a proactive team player who takes the initiative to drive projects to successful outcomes.
